I love Frida Kahlo. She lived a life that others would deem as a struggle but to her, it was just life; I feel like I can totally connect with her on that notion. When I went to Mexico I managed to visit her Little Blue house which was awesome! She had a collection of eclectic pottery and everything was so colourful and beautiful. I love the fact she stayed true to her culture, her style and who she was throughout her life. Yes, she did get influenced and yes, she was incorporated into her surroundings but she kept her identity which has been a HUGE belief my entire life. I have always lived life being me. Even when I was depressed, anxious and living a failing life I still valued the importance of individuality. I share these values with her which is why I love her so much because I can connect with her through her morals 🙂
I’ve finished my oil painting. It took me around 9 hours in total. I took a photo of the steps. I’ve never painted a portrait using oils before. I’ve used oils only once before this which was to paint Sarah a painting of No Face in the style of Van Gogh (hehe). I’m actually shocked at my own talent. The painting came out really cool. I’ve shown every single person I know now because I’m really proud of myself. I can’t believe it looks like this I’m so happy with the result. I only wanted to paint it because paintings are hella expensive to buy. This one cost me £10 for the canvas and paints!!!
