The summer ball was amazing! There was a free bar until the money ran out and I managed to nab two Bulmers which is unfortunately all I can manage really 🙁
After the drinks the night went too quickly and I learned to love my dress! I decided to alter and shorten the bottom frills and make them more into a petticoat underneath the chiffon as I felt it looked too poofy.
If you’re wondering where I purchased it from you can buy it from eBay here. It only costed about £28 and it took 10 days to come. The seller was very communicative and assured me that they had sent the item straight away and for once the Chinese ebay seller was telling the truth!
This, as said in the previous post, is a dupe for this Marchesa chiffon dress (first image)
Spring 2011 – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – Bridalwear 2013
It is absolutely stunning and from the spring 2011 collection, which I feel they have derived a lot of inspiration from for this year’s bridal collection as shown above!
I was literally gobsmacked when I saw all the dresses. But although stunning and very very intricate, I felt a bit dubious about the designers being inspired by “Indian” fashion styles in the 60s. Not knowing much about it I’m not a big fan of people claiming styles of certain traditional-wear especially when in the culture it is bad to show bare legs and a few of the dresses show… a lot of leg. Nonetheless their take on it has produced some beautiful gowns so I guess that’s what fashion is about; being inspired and re-working styles.
Getting back to the summer ball, I had a shoemergency! I am never purchasing anything from House of Fraser online EVER again. It was the worst online shopping experience and customer service I have ever encountered. They wouldn’t reply to my numerous of emails as the payment system had crashed and taken my money without placing an order. They only just about managed to reply a week later after I had sent them several emails saying the same thing. All I got back was “please give me your card details so we can look into this matter further” even though I had stated I paid via Paypal with the money I already had in my account. GRRRR
So yeah I re-purchased the same shoes 3 times in order for them to come and Amazon were the only ones who delivered the best service. So here are my babies:
Seriously I was like WHAT? I bought these off the Kurt Geiger website initially, which was where I first came across them. I didn’t know she had a range of well anything? Despite them being some weird celebrity endorsed fashion item I love them. They’re amazing quality and such pretty shoes but unfortunately they are completely wrecked now after that 1 drunken blur of a night 🙁 I’m a bit gutted but they’re leather so I might be able to give them a scrub then a polish. Just checked the website I bought them for £39 on sale from £95 but now they’ve gone back up in price to £80. They are still £39 on these 2 sites but there’s only 1 size left (40 EU) on the Kurt Geiger
website and sizes EU 35 and 40 left on HoF
Anyways enough about shoes! I was in London yesterday pondering about the shops wishing I could afford everything and I found that Miss Selfridge had a new dress in stock that looked very similar to these embellished ones (it looks a lot nicer in person). Miss Selfridge is well known for their very dainty styles with a lot of lace, a lot of embellishments and a lot of chiffon! This seasons range are literally to die for! I thought that this dress was very similar to my summer ball one as the embellishments on it are literally identical. You can get this dress for £65! So if you’re looking for something pretty, summery and glamorous this dress is for you! You can wear it with gladiator sandals to dress down to wear it during the day or dress it up by wearing some nice chunky sandals or this seasons must have barely-there-ankle-strap heels! Either way I find this Miss Selfridge dress more versatile than the one I bought and I think it’s well worth the money. White is very much this seasons colour!
